Premier Security & Fire MD Neil Johns was bowled over by the enthusiasm and passion of sports events promoter Barry Hearn as he introduced a group of East London business people to a fantastic youth project in the Barking and Dagenham area of London.

Barry, founder and President of promotions company Matchroom Boxing, who are involved in many sports including snooker, boxing, darts, pool, tenpin bowling, golf, and fishing, is a patron of The Future, Barking and Dagenham Youth Zone, a charity offering a safe place for young people to spend their leisure time, inspiring young people to live healthier, happier and more aspirational lives.

Listening to Barry talk about his early life growing up in Dagenham and going on to become one of the world’s top sports promoters was hugely entertaining and incredibly inspiring. And one particular sound-bite he used is something that resonated with Neile hugely. “Complacency is the cancer of business.”

To learn more about Future Youth Zone and how you might be able to help, go to, Neil was also able to tell Barry about Premier Security & Fire Ltd’s latest ballistic and blast-resistant products.

Premier’s dual-certified LPS1175 SR2 security and fire-rated systems tested by the BRE (Building Research Establishment) have also under-gone rigorous trials with ballistic and blast experts DJ Goode of Suffolk offering ballistic resistance to FB4-FB7 level as well as blast protection making them suitable for high-risk facilities such as:

  • Petrochemical sites
  • Transport hubs
  •  Factories
  • Waste-treatment plants
  • Renewable energy plants
  • High-security facilities
  • Military and air bases
  • Aerospace industry
  • Public areas
  • High-profile and government buildings

Premier’s testing with ballistic and blast experts DJ Goode of Suffolk sees our doors, framing, hinges, and locking system analysed under EXV15 blast loading (ISO16933:2007). The blast testing sits alongside Premier’s FB4 FB7 ballistic testing programme of doors, windows, and curtain walling systems to BS EN 1522:1999 and BS1523: 1999 Classification.
