Where to Place Fire Rated Doors

Commercial or non-domestic buildings require an escape route which is clearly defined so as to allow all personnel to safely exit away from danger. Fire rated internal doors are a means of providing safe passage to corridors or stairwells as well as sectioning off parts of a building to prevent the fire from spreading from one zone to another. They’re particularly useful in high-risk areas including kitchens, boiler rooms and any other space which may contain combustible materials.

In domestic buildings of three storeys or more, it’s required that you have fire rated internal doors in every room which is located off the main stairwell.
